It’s that time…a weekend round-up – a post of my weekend adventures.
I’m thinking the best way to do this one will be to go day by from Friday-Sunday and break down my days.
The format may change in the future but for now this will work. I’ll try to post them Mondays as that would probably make the most sense…but who knows, it’s Tuesday night and I’m just posting this now. Oops.
Here we go~
Friday:
I live off campus and commute to school via the Northstar train. So my weekend starts when I get on that train and am headed home. Usually my commute is highly uneventful; I listen to music or read. However this Friday’s commute was rather exciting and led to me in happy tears at one point.
You may recall I mentioned I’m a HUGE fan of KPop and KDramas.
One of my favorite groups is Big Bang (I actually saw them in concert last November in Anaheim.) My favorite member of Big Bang is Taeyang.
Actually he is one of my favorite musical artists in general – across any genre.
See him here:
Taeyang – “I’ll Be There” (2010)
Well a couple weeks ago Taeyang was announced as the next artist for MTV Iggy’s Music Experiment 2.0 concert. A concert that you have to win tickets to through challenges on various social networking platforms. I entered a couple of the twitter challenges and found out on Friday I WON TICKETS!
As I was walking to a seat on the train Friday afternoon I was checking my email on my phone and there it is. An email claiming “You’re invited to Music Experiment. Please register to claim your tickets,” -or something along those lines. I had no idea what any of this meant…I was dumbfounded and couldn’t comprehend anything. I screengrabbed it and sent it to my friend Riz asking, “What does this mean? Did everyone on the email list get this?”
Her response back basically said, “Umm that means you won idiot!” I don’t think she called me an idiot…but she should have. Nothing was making sense. I was so excited and started crying from happiness. I really didn’t think I was going to win! Riz said the best part was watching my reaction go from “wait what?” to “OMG WHAT?!” I don’t doubt that all. I was a nutcase.
Basically though, now I am planning a trip to San Francisco with my friend Chelsea to see Taeyang in concert! I could not be more ecstatic!
The rest of Friday was spent at work, but I was so happy about winning tickets that literally nothing could bring me down. I had a great night at work at the BBB!
Saturday:
Honestly, Saturday was eventful. It was a rainy day in the suburbs so I slept in and then worked an eight-hour shift! Yet it was also a great work day. I think the excitement of winning Taeyang tickets was still in my system. (It still is actually) Right when I got there I had a couple of customers that I ended up spending probably a half hour with in order to get window treatments for them. Long story short I had to go through our company’s nationwide store inventory to find them what they needed/wanted. They were complimenting me like crazy though, I heard them tell one of my managers that I need a raise and that I’m amazing. Made me blush. But as a retail employee it’s good to hear that kind of stuff sometimes…I’ve worked in retail for years and we aren’t thanked enough. We deal with a lot of crap as retail employees, more than imaginable, it’s such a thankless industry but I like working with people so I deal with it. For now at least, until I graduate. I didn’t get home from work till almost 11PM; so when I got home I went straight to bed.
Sunday:
Sunday was an early morning as I had a staff meeting at work about getting ready for holiday shoppers. I can’t believe it’s almost holiday season. I don’t like to think about holidays until after my birthday honestly.
After that I stopped at the ever popular bullseye, err Target to pick up a few things including Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience Part 2 CD. Because yes sometimes I still like to buy CDs.
The rest of Sunday then turned into a movie day with my brother.
First we went to go see Rush.
Which was absolutely phenomenal! I have always been around cars, it’s a huge part of my family and my brother is a huge F1 fan (this was actually his second time seeing Rush) and I’m an F1 fan as well. I’m not as big of a fan, but I can appreciate the beauty of a machine at over 200 mph and the danger these drivers face. This movie was so beautifully shot, I’m not even sure if I can put it into words! The relationship and portrayal of Niki Lauda and James Hunt was enthralling and the mastery of the F1 cars was magic! I truly can’t use a word other than beautiful to explain how well it was done, and how well crafted the race scenes were. All in all, I would definitely recommend this movie, especially if you have an interest in F1 but even if you just have in interest in a good dramatic story! I think a lot of types of people will enjoy this.
When we got home we decided to watch Insidious as my brother had never seen it yet it is one of my favorite modern scary movies.
Then a rewatch of The Hunger Games followed that. Both of these were watched while I did accounting homework for school. Life of a college student and all that.
All in all, I would say this was a very successful weekend and I had a lot of fun actually.
Now let’s see what this week brings.
I know I work most of next weekend so I have a feeling it wont be quite as eventful.
But we will see; only time will tell.
Until next time,
Thia Rose.
