Taeyang @ Bimbo’s 365 [11.26.2013]

A night I’ll never forget!

It has been over two months since the actual concert and I am still living in a state of My God!! WAS THAT REAL?!?!
A very large part of me still doesn’t believe it ever actually happened…only the photos and the memories prove it did.
Well, and I suppose you can watch the entire concert online because MTV Iggy & Intel livestreamed it.

But before I get ahead of myself let me jump back a little bit and explain. If you remember back a ways you may recall that I won tickets to Taeyang’s Music Experiment show and my friend Chelsea and I went to San Francisco for it as my 23rd birthday present from my parents!
As amazing as the entire trip was, the highlight was truly seeing Taeyang live at Bimbo’s 365!

Front of Bimbo's 365

First of all the venue was amazing, stepping inside was almost like stepping into a time machine. It felt like an old jazz club and I half expected a mob boss to come out and run security.
The interior is done up dark and has an atmosphere that I cannot say I have experienced at any other club before. You can tell it’s a place with a lot of history!

Inside the Venue. (the tables weren’t set up for Taeyang but this is just a general idea)

But on to the actual concert.

The concert was on a Tuesday night and as Chelsea and I were visitors to San Francisco we decided to use our morning and mid afternoon being tourists. That is until we ended up near the venue and saw the huge queue that was already forming that wrapped around the side of building.
Knowing the line was going to get longer we rushed back to our hotel and quickly got ready! And so dressed all in white (for the White themed Party) we headed back to the venue and got in line! I think we got in line for a show that didn’t open doors or start until several hours later. However with the sheer amount of people around we were able to make it pretty fun. I honestly don’t remember how long we were in that queue for…it was quite awhile though! Chelsea and I met up with a couple other girls (Thuy & Maxine) and we waited in the queue and spent the time at the concert with them! (Side note: I love Kpop concerts, I always go home with new friends!)

Once the show finally began I can’t even begin to explain how surreal it was!
Choice37 opened the show with a DJ set that both warmed up the crowd and blew our minds! Also Choice has a ridiculously nice smile…but that’s just a random thing I noticed during his amazing opening set.

After Choice’s set, and a brief wait (that was mostly just fans screaming for Taeyang) the star of the night finally made his appearance! His setlist contained a bunch of songs that were from his solo discography as well as a few tracks from Big Bang’s.

Set list- Part One:
Superstar

Break Down
I Need A Girl
Only Look At Me
1AM
Ringa Linga

Then like every singer does, he said it was time for him to go when really it was just time for a wardrobe change. Or in Taeyang’s case it’s just time for a hairstyle change. -_-; But when he came back he performed another full set as an encore of sorts, though I consider it more of a Part Two than an encore simply by the length of it.

...I mentioned a hairstyle change...

Set list – Part Two:
Bad Boy
Fantastic Baby
I Need A Girl
Superstar
Ringa Linga
Wedding Dress (acoustic)
Only Look At Me

I have to say I love that he did “Wedding Dress” acoustically, even if he messed up the words a bit. The day before the show we had gone by the venue and heard a bit of his sound check and over heard a crew member say that “Wedding Dress” had been cut from the set list, my heart broke at that! So when fans kept pushing for “Wedding Dress” and he decided to sing it acoustic, I was elated! I love all of his songs and I wouldn’t have been disappointed with the concert if he didn’t sing it…but “Wedding Dress” is simply iconic Taeyang so yes, I was just pleased as punch that he gave in and sang it for us!

The entire event was simply phenomenal and all of it is forever ingrained in my head. I’m honestly not exaggerating about that either. Taeyang simply puts on that good of a show that I know I will never forget it!
I have been to my fair share of concerts, more than I have fingers & toes to count on – several times over, and I have been to a few KPop concerts but of all the artists and performers I have seen live Taeyang has a stage presence that is uniquely his own! I wish I could explain that but I don’t know if I truly can, except to say that he is one big confident dork on stage! And I do of course say that with the utmost respect and admiration.
I must also say that seeing him solo was a completely different experience than seeing him with Big Bang in 2012. When I saw him with Big Bang he was a part of a team, a piece of a brilliant machine; but solo there are different facets to his stage persona that he lets shine – it’s an entirely different person on stage. Perhaps I over-analyze but that is something I truly see. He is a brilliant performer and he truly knows how to work a crowd. You know, some people were just made to be on the stage and with his voice and dance moves – Taeyang is definitely one of those people!

All in all, this concert was phenomenal and I would relive it ALL all over again if I could!

I will forever be thankful to MTV Iggy and Intel for putting on this incredible event and even more thankful that I got to go and experience it with a great friend!!
If you are interested in watching the performance, you can see it all here on the Music Experiment website!!

That’s all for now.
